This is the recording of the kickoff to our monthly virtual meetings as a cohort. In this meeting, we reviewed the program structure and key next steps and introduced the CHIC Portal.

Catalyst: Human-Centered Design Training
Catalyst is an in-depth training, coaching, and mentoring program on Human-Centered Design skills. Through the Catalyst program you will learn how to effectively define problems and design, test, evaluate, and implement innovative solutions. These skills are essential for organizations interested in creating a culture of innovation and developing leaders for change.
The Catalyst methodologies and ways of working have been proven to transform organizations’ abilities to engage their patients and staff in more meaningful ways, as well as hone critical skills of rapid testing and prototyping.
Sharing Back Lessons Learned
To support peer learning and field-building, you’ll share back lessons learned from your pilots by:
Technology Hub: Exposure to and Piloting of Tech Solutions
The Technology Hub component of the CHIC will help improve your organization’s capacity for adopting technology relevant to serving Colorado’s Medicaid and uninsured populations. During this component, you’ll identify, prototype, test, and refine at least two technology-enabled solutions to improve access to high-quality comprehensive primary care, behavioral health, oral health, or strengthen community health in the safety net.
We will expose you to tech vendors to increase knowledge of and experience working with technology entrepreneurs. You’ll also be connected to other safety net organizations to learn how they’ve effectively implemented technology solutions.
Ecosystem Building
To further plug you into the broader Colorado innovation, safety net, and health care ecosystem, we’ll be hosting events a broad array of stakeholders, including government, funders, health systems, payers, entrepreneurs and others in Colorado.
We believe that underserved communities deserve a health system that offers services tailored to their needs and context. Resource-constrained organizations need new ways of working and problem solving to respond to their communities’ needs in an ever-changing environment.
Your team will begin to internalize design thinking mindsets and practice methods that spark innovation. You will advance a strategic project through immersing in exploratory research, focusing and re-framing your opportunity, and prototyping several ideas. Your organization will find value in working in a new way.
Commit to attending all workshops, and reach out to your coach for help. Co-design from Day One. Treat the people impacted by your challenge as experts and partners. Include them in project activities and regularly ask for their input. Build will by regularly sharing your activities with colleagues using project photos, video, and stakeholder quotes.
